WARM FIGS WITH WALNUTS

INGREDIENTS

- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 6 ripe fresh figs, each trimmed and cut in half
- 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vanilla ice cream (optional)
- 1/4 cup toasted chopped walnuts

DIRECTIONS

In nonstick 12-inch skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
Add brown sugar and cook, stirring, until sugar has melted
slightly, about 2 minutes. Add figs and vanilla and cook,
turning figs once, until softened, about 4 minutes.

Scoop ice cream, if using, into bowls and top with warm
figs and syrup; sprinkle with walnuts.
