Two reds in PA - CLICK HERE for the Cooking Forum Index
Ewan McNay
Visited some friends in Pitt over the weekend, but forgot to take wine
with. So, quick trip prior to Saturday's meal to the PA wine store.

We were having chargrilled salmon, and a dense chocolate dessert, so
decided (for good or bad) to look for a Pinot Noir with the main meal,
and Zin for dessert/evening sipping. From the limited (but not
terrible) selection, went with the 2000 Mondavi Carneros pinot
('unfiltered' noted on label) and 2001 Kenwood Jack London Zin.

Both turned out to be surprisingly good - the Pinot not very
assertive, but smooth and gentle without being insipid, very light
fruit, goood food match. The Zin was very enjoyable - *just* the
right level of 'chew' although might be even better in a year or so,
spices and nuts, some toffee. Very yummy, held up well throughout
evening. Both recommended (PA prices were $24 for the Pinot and $18
for the Zin, likely high).
