Enjoy the Seviche, I would be there but it is a bit long from Colorado.

I don't know what the problem is, when I've used it, it's gotten me
almost to my destination and hiccups. For instance, I once went to
Jets training camp at Hofstra ... we were almost there when it
said to make a right onto this little residential street. That
was the last instruction. I'm looking around, no university, no
large men in football uniforms. Nothing. Found the way without
much trouble, we were that close but had to retrace our steps back
to the main road. Not the first time it did that to me.

Mapquest CAN be screwy. I got the directions for a 480 mile trip, and boy was
it a mess. Got the return directions and not only were the directions much
clearer, an hour was shaved off the time. Now I always compare the "go to"
directions with the "return from" before I go anywhere.

Heh,

That's a good idea no matter which map service you use...
they all seem to come from the same central source (and I
wish I knew what it is).

I am sorry, but I must bow out. The kids got us tickets to go see
Weird Al in Atlantic City late Saturday night and we will not get
home until the wee hours.

Stan, I don't know how you would prefer to go but
I dislike the NJ turnpike. I'm planning to take
US202 from near Phoenixville up to the where it hits
I287 near Somerville or Raritan. You could probably
take 206 from Trenton area up to there. Then just take
I287 north and then east as it curve up around to the
north of NYC and east to Port Chester. I have e-mailed
you the mapquest directions for the last few miles.
I just had them start at White Plains which is right
off I287 just before Port Chester. I didn't need
the entire route as I've been on I-287 several times
in the last few years and just needed the directions
for where to exit the interstate and how to get to
the restaurant. Hope that helps. If you don't get
the e-mail for some reason just go into Mapquest and
ask for directions from White Plains to 45 Midland
Ave. Port Chester, NY.

I've had pretty good luck overall with Mapquest but
it does make mistakes sometimes. You just have to
not trust it too much. The reason I know it's not
always right is that I've printed out maps of places
I already know how to get to, to give to someone else,
and found mistakes. Well, if it gets you within a
mile or two of the place and it's not 3am when you
get there you can always ask someone for directions. ;-)

Bummer! Not about Weird Al, though. ;-)

Hmmm? Don't think I'm going to eat any raw fish.
Escabeche, si. Seviche, no. :-) Heck it's not
that far, if you leave now you can just make it.

Hmmm. Logically, their source is something like Rand
McNally, not the other way around (same mistake in both).

I didn't say they were perfect :) When I met up with my long-lost love,
John, for the first time in Addison, TX, I had printed out Mapquest
instructions from the airport to the hotel. We wound up in this continuous
loop under and around the toll road. We finally pull over, I call the
hotel. They asked me where we were. Hell if we knew where we were I
wouldn't be calling, would I? I see a funeral home off to the left. Oh,
drive past that, we are right there. If it had been a snake we'd have been
bit :) Mapquest *did* get us pretty darn close.
