Though I won't be able to attend this year, I just wanted to call to
your collective attention to the upcoming Wine & Chile Fiesta in Santa
Fe, a truly fun and informative wine event. This year it runs from
Sept. 22-26 and features many wine dinners, symposia, demonstrations and
(of course) tastings:

Looking over this year's schedule, a few events stand out to me:
1. A 2002 Burgundy tasting run by Wilson Daniels
2. A Ridge Monte Bello vertical tasting (you listening, Ed? ;-))
3. A Dom. Drouhin vertical
4. A Rhone Rangers tasting
Based on my past experience, I expect that this year's event will be
low-key and well run. I highly recommend it to those who could attend.

Yes, I'm listening and damn!--I can't make it.
Santa Fe remains one of my favorite long weekend retreats and should I
win the lottery one of these days, I'll be residing in one of the
nicer old manses just east of the plaza within walking distance of
some of the finest restaurants in the US.
Ridge vertical would be worth the price of admission on its own.
