While listening to th 60 + mile an hour winds last night, my wife and I sat
down to pork loin orginally scheduled to be pan seared and then finished in
the oven with a Balsamic, honey, rosemary and garlic glaze, Frances felt
that it should be grilled in the Florida room by flashlight, the glaze
being brushed on. Accompanied by left over rice and cold peas, the loin was
declicious as was the Rioja. I had forgotten what a great match Rioja is
for pork.
Prior experience led me to decant 2 hours earlier so the wine had ample
time to open. It was one of those synergy meals where wine and food come
together and in the case of the Rioja somehow exceed expectations.
It is a meal I shall repeat under more favorable conditions at a later
date.
All well here, the Oleanders will probably recover from the radical surgery
I applied this afternoon our willow which almost went with Charley fared
well with its new trimmer look, and four ropes are now assuring a little
discipline in a young elm tree.
Life is good. I hope we hear from my southern neighbors on the board soon
with tales of successful hurricane fighting.

Glad to hear that you fared so well: the footage I saw of St. Augustine
looked pretty bad. The in-laws in the Daytona area all evacuated to
Sarasota (oh, the irony!). Their houses managed to escape relatively
unscathed (no flooding, no trees down). I wonder how Bill's condo in
Daytona fared?
