hello everybody,

I have a recipe for a bacon apple quiche I would like to try but one of the
ingredients is called "half and half". As the englisch language is not my
mothertongue (as you might have guessed) I don't have a clue what half and
half means in this context. Could anybody pls enlighten me?
thanks
steffie

Ribitt
In Canada it means cream with an 18% butterfat content.

According to "Cooks Thesaurus" http://www.foodsubs.com/Dairyoth.html

Half & Half is half milk, half cream and weighs in with a butterfat content
between 10.5 - 18%. It can't be whipped, but it's nice with coffee, or on
cereal.

Half & half is the cream usually served with Coffee in the US

OK, that is a clear description. I should be able to find something similar
here in the Netherlands.
Thanks to both of you, Rina and Ribitt for helping me out.
