Really, will a LDL > 70 kill you?

We are not talking about HIGH levels.

But no. For one thing some LDL is 'good', or at least not bad, so you'd have
to know just which variety you are talking about. EXPENSIVE!

It's been two years almost since I spent sooo many hours researching the
question and related questions, and this seemed to be the only 'organizing'
fact: high insulin kills.

It seemed that high insulin was related to clogged arteries, that without it
the clogging is less severe.

If correct, that means

A. your diet should not greatly elevate your blood sugar; high blood
glucose elevates insulin

B. if you have Type II diabetes check out what your medication does. I was
put on glipizide which I found out (according to doc, when I asked) worked
by elevating insulin levels. There being three sources of high glucose,
poor insulin production being only one of them, I made sure we switched to
the older metformin which works (I was told) on cellular use of glucose. At
the VA I got them to check my insulin and it was way high on the glipizide
and became normal on metformin.

Yes, make sure your medication fits the problem, not the superficial
symptom, the high glucose levels. If your body is already producing extra
insulin because the most common source - cellular mis/non-use, leaving high
glucose and more insulin demand - is the problem, then attack the source,
don't make high inuslin problems even worse.

My bod has been doing well, general functioning tool - which could not be
said before - perhaps because I assaulted the cellular function problem with
L-carnitine, L-acetyl-carnitine, Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), and Co Q-10 plus B
vitamins, and general vits and mins, biotin.

Health!

Oh. The first inroads against high glucose were made with Atkins, which also
helped with lipids. (If you have constipation troubles email me for my
pleasant solution.)

PS Watch out for the statins if you continue to feel very weak and
especially if you get weaker and weaker when taking them. Although their
warnings clearly indicate weakening of muscle as a potential side-effect
(hearts are muscle) my docs ignored me for over a year when I kept
complaing about the problem. Simvastatin was killing me and I had to find
out and fix the problem myself (which lead to the list of supplements
above).
