Until recently, when I posted a followup, the focus (cursor) would
automatically appear at the end of quoted text.
I've just noticed that now the focus automatically appears at the beginning
of quoted text. I must have inadvertently changed a setting, but I can't
find it.
Anyone Xnews user know how to reset this?
TIA

In Setup under Misc in article options does "^\s?\s?\s?[>:|\]»]" appear
in the regex window? (top right of the frame). If it doesn't Xnews can't
determine what quoted txt is.

Yes, it's there, and I do get the correct quoted text.
I just learned, from a response on news.software.readers, that the newest
version of Xnews places the cursor at the top by default. No one seems to
know if it's a bug or intentional but there's no option to change it as yet.
Since I had only recently upgraded to the latest version, I just noticed it.
Thanks for your reply!

Theres a switch in the ini file to change it. I can't remember what it is
but I changed it and it works. The folks in news.software.readers would
know as thats where I got the info. BTW, the latest version is it. Luu is
not working on it anymore.

The manual suggests that in xnews.ini, it's
[Display]
SkipHeaders=1
The problem is that my xnews.ini has no SkipHeaders setting at all
and my cursor is conveniently placed below all text, as opposed to a
cursor inconveniently placed between headers and text.
My version is the latest: 5.04.25
I was sorry to hear some time back that Luu Tran would no longer
support Xnews, but happy for him that he will have time to read the
book he bought with the Amazon coupon I sent him :-)

6.08.25 is the latest version. Add the SkipHeaders line to .ini file.

That's the version I just upgraded from to 6.08.25. This one "feature" is
the only thing I find inconvenient. There doesn't seem to be a fix for that.

Yes, that's the version I have, and the cursor is placed between the
headers and the beginning of quoted text, not at the end of quoted text.

I agree. I found 6.08.25 and made various attempts to adjust that and
nothing works. The option is to replace the latest xnews.exe with the
previous one from 5.04.25 because that was the only change that
occurred.

I may be reinstalling the earlier version soon!

I just reinstalled 5.04.25. But Charter is messing around too so I'm not
sure.
