I just inherited a Dazey crock-pot/fryer from my mother-in-law. There
are no instructions and I'm trying to figure out whether I have all the
pieces and how to use them. I hope someone out there can help!
Here's a description of the various pieces:
* a brown metal cylinder on legs
* a thermostat the plugs into the cylinder with the word "Dazey" on
it---the thermostat ranges from "Simmer" to 400+ degrees, which is also
labeled "Auto-fry"
* a brown ceramic crock insert that fits into the metal cylinder
* a metal basket with holes (looks like a fryer basket)
* a strange metal piece that looks like it ought to be a handle for the
fryer basket, but I can't figure out for the life of me how to attach
it to the basket
The thermostat says on the back "115 VOLTS A.C. 1650 WATTS / MODEL P500
/ E31816 / CONTROL NO. DTC-1".
The metal cylinder says on the bottom "IMMERSIBLE 1400 WATTS 120 VOLTS
60 HZ. A.C. ONLY FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY". It also says "DAZEY PRODUCTS
CO. INDUSTRIAL AIRPORT KS. MODEL DCP-6 / UL LISTED 756J USE ONLY MODEL
DTC-1 TEMP. CONTROL".
Any help? I'd love a copy of the instructions, or an address or phone
number where I can get in touch with the manufacturer.
Thanks!!

Thanks! That's pretty close, but my cooker has a ceramic insert that
this one doesn't. The metal basket looks quite close, though!
I tried both ebay and google, but didn't find anything this close.
You're clearly better at this than me!

I love my old Dazey cooker/fryer...keeps my cabinetry much neater than having a deep fryer and a crock pot. It's easy to use, and you don't need a manual. You can immerse the deep fryer. The end of handle with the little bent metal ends fits into two little slots in the fry basket; you'll also see a metal 'bar' that slides up and down the looped-looking en dof the handle. Slide that back toward the 'looped' end, and then squeeze the handle until the bent metal ends can fit between the slots inside the fry basket. Once you get the ends between the slots, slide the metal bar forward toward the fry basket, and your handle will now work just dandy...and the handle also acts as a pot 'rest' while your fried food is draining.
To work this as a crock pot, use the crock; take the crock out for normal 'cooking' that is not crock-cooking and to deep fry. The setting on the heat adjustment that say "Auto" are nice for crocking food, but I think they're a little low, so I move mine up to the first 'numbered' setting. For frying, I use the Autofry setting.
It makes me just sick that my crock pot has a large crack in it. I just love my Dazy crock pot/fryer. It's so reliable!! I hope this helps. |
