As of two days ago, the duty nurse that answered the phone at Walter Reed
said that they're not swamped and they're very much appreciated.
Cash would be good, too, as many of these wounded soldiers are being
charged for their meals.
BTW, if you die of your wounds at any point after the MedEvac plane lifts
off from Baghdad, the Bush administration will not include you in the
combat death totals. When you count the ones who died at Weisbaden, Walter
Reed, etc, there are over 3,000 combat dead.

Seriously?? That's absolutely appalling, if it's true.

I voted for Kerry. 'Nuff said.

Well, that's hit a new low. I find this very upsetting. Add it to the
fact that when a family wants to visit their wounded soldier, I understand
the government provides funds for two nights then they are on their own.
I'm sure they have to pay their own fares, too. Add that to the fact that
soldiers have to pay their own fares to get home once they have been dropped
off Stateside and you have to wonder why on earth we're in this mess and why
we finished up with such a heartless group in DC.

I can believe it. This whole situation has me stark, staring, raving
furious. Congratulations to the "religious right" for having their hearts
in the right place and reelecting our fearless leader. Sorry, I normally
*never* make any political comments here but this has me really upset.

Apparently, you are quite misinformed: http://tinyurl.com/6y9ex
As the proud spouse of an active duty serviceman, it really irritates me to
see rumors become truth without any confirmation.
Back to lurkdom....

Why are they being charged for meals? Talk about adding
insult to injury!

I'm sorry I was upset enough yesterday to vent my frustration. I know what
triggered it - having read these newsposts and seeing the wounded soldiers
at Walter Reed, it sat very poorly with me yesterday to see Tom Ridge and
his coterie lolling on the beach in Hawaii and enjoying evening
entertainment complete with hula dancers.
Coupled with the fact that my 19-year old grandson has just completed his
Marine training and is being deployed to Iraq, I was pretty upset.

Breathing works rather well. We've been doing it in this house since the
end of January. We hope to see Sarah home in February. As of the last we
knew (a day or 2 ago), she's fine if homesick!
Take care and give care and love!

I'm glad your daughter is fine and will be home in February. How joyful all
of you will be! Kudos for her service to her country. Let us know when
she's back home - in the meantime, I will be thinking of her and all the
other young people over there.
