Oil and Vinegar on a sandwich question - CLICK HERE for the Cooking Forum Index

Hi Everyone. When getting subs (a.k.a submarine sandwich, grinders,
hoagies, hero's etc..) oil and vinegar are offered as a topping at all
places. What types of oil and vinegar are normally used on sandwiches?

Sorry if this is a dumb question.

At the store, red vinegar and cheap oil. I use good olive and red wine
or champagne vin. Salt and pepper traditionally go with this. A little
Greek vinegrette is a hit, too.
You can do better than the deli.

Depends on the store, but plain white vinegar and corn oil are popular.
When in doubt, just ask before you place an order for a sandwich.

Red wine vinegar and olive oil. A bit of salt, pepper and oregano to
finish it off.
