Melba's Jammin'
Are they recommended for anything other than breakfast? I enjoyed the
grits at The Waffle House in Tucson a couple months ago and picked up a
canister of the Quaker product today on a whim.

Thank you. That is very kind of you to say, and I appreciate your taking
the time to say it. And I do appreciate you letting me slide on the
"plitting" a hair and the "crist" mill, among others. <g> I apologize for
not "snipping" better.

I love this group. I've been reading, lurking, and posting for almost a
decade now. I pop in and out because I always seem to run out of time
before I can get through a day. I'm always doing something - usually for
someone else (sheesh), so usually, I read and run. I just can't resist the
"Southern" stuff conversations - especially the things we "made" when I
was a kid on the farm that everyone routinely buys in the store now.

Thank you for your posts over the years. I have always enjoyed them and
you have taught me a lot. You are very knowledgeable and I respect that.

BTW, I did know you were jerking on my ponytail, but you were very polite
about it. When I re-read my post, I did see the failings of wording and I
understood why you were jerking on my ponytail. I do apologize for not
doing better the first time around. Mea culpa. However, as my grandfather
was fond of saying: "The Bible says, 'turn the other cheek'. Once that is
done, lead with your left!" So, watch yourself, Bub. <wink>

Hi Barb,

I totally forgot about the geography gap between us. I'm in
central Mississippi. Strawberries have
been in here for awhile now. They come in really early - sometimes in mid-
March, but usually by early to mid April. It's been really wet this
spring and it's been cold (tee hee hee. That's a relative term. Days have
ranged from 68 to 80 and nights drop to high 50s up to high 60s) We've
had a lot of thunderstorms with hard rain, wind, and hail. The poor
strawberries are trying keep their roots in the ground and their little
heads above water. The few I've seen have been huge this year and really
juicy, probably because of the rain, but they aren't as sweet. They are
usually totally gone (local ones) by late May. Most years,things here
begin to bloom in early March.

I'm not familiar with rhubarb. I have an aunt in Missouri that loves
rhubarb pie. I'd like to bake her one (she's in her 70s now)the next time
I go up, but I don't have a clue. I don't know if I can even buy it here.
I live in Plum Nelly - you know, Plum outta the city and Nelly outta the
county. This is not the end of the earth, but you can see it from here!
If I can buy it here, I don't know that I would recognize it if I saw it.
Any tips, pointers, suggestions?
