I'm a kosher nightmare, according to my Jewish friends. I adore corned
beef sandwiches, but on white or sourdough bread, with cheddar cheese,
lettuce and tomato only. No mustard. No rye bread. And CHEESE on
corned beef? Blasphemy!
But I even got one that way at Katz's Deli in NYC.

Corned beef, lettuce, and tomato? A CBLT! I bet it would be good on toast
with mayo.

They must have shook their heads in dispair as they served it! :-)

Just for a joke I checked their website, they do have cheese,
they even have a reuben. Anyway, here's the funny part for
me ...
... Katz's pastrami andwich ... ask for mayo at your own peril

Cracked me up.

If your banning head gear then its ALL or nothing. What makes religious headgear
any different? NOTHING. If a person is so devout then I think the family may
wish to rethink the concept of the public school system.

Failure to follow something called the constitution SEPRATION OF CHURCH &
STATE. Theres nothing "grey" in there, but several religious practices "creep"
into government and on to things like money etc.. Personally I don't agree with
them and feel they should be removed as it promotes religion in the government.
Bzzt, see above. Religion is between the person and their religion.

Personally as long as the ball cap is worn *properly* meaning bill forward I
could care less to make it a big deal. Lack of manners is the problem of the
parents, not the school system.

Theres alot of issues with some fashion trends, some more than others.

I worked part time in a school district at the HS level long after I graduated
up till just a few years ago when I moved out of the area, and I've seen quite a
bit of "fashion."

I've been thru the whole designer/label craze before. Hey even my shirts with
the little animal on it are back in fashion again. I hate to burst some these
kids bubble but some of this stuff is on its 2nd or more "revolution." Mini
skirts, legging, those white ked shoes, etc...

A dress code like "business casual" in a public school I can live with, your
starting to cross the civil rights boundaries when you have *mandatory* uniforms
like a private/perochial school. You want to have a dress code and *optional*
uniforms, fine.

This "ghetto wear" as I call it (nothing to do with race) doesn't fly in a
"business casual" setting so it should not be acceptable at school.

I've heard it all about how this or that is a distraction in school, maybe the
little delinquents need to move on in life (public school is not a babysitting
service, don't want to go fine, see ya!) if they are that easily distracted, or
the teacher maybe needs to teach and make the subject more interesting than
Janey for those 50 minutes. Motivated students can do alot to get thru a class.
Which I admit Janey is going to be some good competition, especially if Janey
was in activity on game day in my HS or this is a private/parochial school with
uniforms.
