Called Würstchen im Schlafrock in German (sausages in nightgown). I
like them, but prefer the potato-coat variation.
Würstchen im Kartoffelmantel
Wiener sausages in potato coat
8 Wiener sausages
200 g (7 oz) flour
600 g (1.3 lb) potatoes
2 eggs
salt
marjoram
nutmeg
1 egg yolk
Cook, peel and thoroughly mash the potatoes. Cover and refrigerate
overnight. Add the flour, salt, some marjoram and grated nutmeg and mix
it all up into dough, working fast. Roll out to the thicknes of 1 cm
(0.4 in). Cut out 8 rectangles and roll each one around a sausage,
pinching the edges together to seal them. Put the rolled-up sausages on
a baking sheet, paint with egg yolk and bake in medium oven until
golden.
