Is it just me or is Kroger (the store brand) Cocoa much less flavorful
than Hershey cocoa? I found Hershey to be very flavorful, very
chocolatey. I made the best chocolate cake I ever ate with Hershey
cocoa using the recipe on the box.

Why would you expect Kroger cocoa to be as good as Hershey or Nestles?
Sometimes generics are as good as the name brands, but don't be
surprised when they are not -- that's why the Kroger box was $1 cheaper.
Best regards,
Bob

And from Hershey's you can move up, too. Ghirardelli cocoa (as distinct
from the "Sweet Ground Chocolate and Cocoa") is even more flavourful. If
you want to really splurge, there's always Michel Cluizel cocoa, perhaps
the best in the world, but at $77.50 for a 3 kg box, it's probably way more
than you want to spend for way more cocoa than you'll ever use. The
Ghirardelli, however, is practical and widely available.
