Sounds fascinating! :-)

My mom's favorite dip that always went over well at parties was made
with canned clams.

Take one pint of sour cream and one can of baby clams. Drain off most of
the clam juice and add to the sour cream. Spice to taste. She usually
used just a little onion powder and garlic powder. Simple and really
very good served with potato chips!

I'll have to re-post my recipe for cheese balls. Party season cometh!
