You can make several of these and freeze most. Take them out of the
freezer, thaw, remove contents from the foil, and heat in the
microwave.

Did this when I went camping back in 1990... we called them Campfire
Pocketbooks. We didn't add butter, the ground beef was fatty enough. Add
some Worcestershire sauce, that makes it even better. Ours had green beans,
too. Put the foil packet right in the wood fire (that's what we had) or on
the grill. Let the packets cook for an hour. We told ghost stories and
drank beer around the fire while dinner cooked. Open the foil packets
carefully... hot steam! Was delicious!

I'm shocked! Infiltrating a boy scout camp, getting them drunk on beer
and then stealing their recipe?!?!?

No merit badge for you! ;)

I was Den Mother, back in the late 1950's and in New York City there
is little opportunity to have a cook-out or overnight trip. So, we
prepared something like this at my apartment, the meeting place for
the Den, stuck it into the hot oven where it stayed until the meeting
was almost over and then ate. The Cub Scouts loved it and we did this
once a year, from what I remember.

Wow, I'm jealous! They didn't let us have beer when I was in Girl
Scouts! LOL.

We made these too. You're right, they were excellent!
