Le Creuset Dutch oven. Does anyone know of a copycat brand I can buy?
**************************
I bought an oval enameled cast iron covered type (9.5 qt?) for $68 at
'Herbergers', a division of Sachs. Marked at $175 with discount. I believe
the brand is 'OvenWare', but I don't remember, and I can't find a name on
it. Mine is red with a creme interior. I have never used LeCreuset, but I
sure am satisfied with my Chinese copy.
First time I used it I did the Emerill porkroast thing, sitting on sliced
onions, and forgot to oil the insides. The pork roasted for 3.5 hours and
it took me 5.5 hours to get the inside clean clean of burnt onions, using
plastic scour pads. Now I always oil it and have no cleaning problems.
The local store still has them on display, and in two sizes.
