What are all of you doing on new year's eve this Saturday? I'll be
spending it at home without being on the road with all the wackos and
nutjobs driving.
Happy New Year!

I'll be down in New Orleans. I'll be helping David's parents with their house
for part of the trip, but if I know David's NO friends, there will be a party
involving liquor and large quantities of fireworks electrical taped together.

I'll be working all night long. But I might be taking a day of vacation to
attend Chinese New Year in San Francisco on January 29.

Since I now have weekends off, I'll actually be attending a party at a
friends house about 50 miles away. ;-) We've not seen them for awhile
and we have been invited to spend the night!
I think I'll go buy a couple of new air matresses.
Cheers!

We call it amateur night around here. Anyway, we're not going out,
New Year's isn't my favorite holiday, whatever you call it.

We'll be wrapping homemade caramels (I hope) to give away as belated
Christmas gifts the following day. I, too, hate being on the roads on
December 31st.

I have tickets to see a college basketball game; Villanova vs. Temple on
Dec. 31st, but the game should be over by 6:30. I might drop by a
friend's party, but probably I will just stay home on NYE.
I am going away for nearly ten days soon for vacation. My sister and I
are also going to make a party for our dad's 75th birthday on New Years
Day, so I figured I will just prepare the food I am going to make for
the party on NYE, pack for my trip, and throw a nice steak under the
broiler for me for dinner.

I'll be working, and hoping to not have to take care of those wackos and
nutjobs who were out driving. It can be a bad night for traumas :/

Same here. Just the two of us home alone, peacefully passing into the New
Year. No specific food plans yet, but we'll nosh on something.

Oh boy, first you didn't give them a gift on Xmas, then you make up
for it by passing out some lousy friggin' homemade caramels. What
miserable cheap *******s!

We (personally, not NZers in general) don't really celebrate New Year,
and don't always stay up to see the New Year in. Normally, my husband
and I work New Year's Day, but since it falls on a Sunday this year, I
have the day off while he's travelling for work. Nor do we do anything
special with food.

I have missed you so much! MWAH!
Crash's daughter is in the midst of an at-risk pregnancy, so they
couldn't come to our place as they usually do (they live in another
state). We have actual gifts for them, but we're going to do our best
to induce diabetes in every last one of them, as well.
I thought you were coming over on Christmas Eve to make goth
gingerbread men. What happened??

Will be missing our old neighbors on New Years - regardless of the
weather, we all used to gather in the cul-de-sac about quarter of
twelve...kids, dogs, grownups...the whole crew, some in pj's and
parkas, everyone with a cup of something warming and cheerful. At
midight we'd light left over fireworks from the 4th of July and toast
the New Year. About 12:10 we all trundled back to our respective homes
and warm beds. Not exactly wild and crazy, but a really nice
tradition, and I will miss it this year. Think we'll splurge on a
couple of lobsters, curl up with the cats and watch a DVD this
year...and if I so much as hear strains of Auld Lang Syne I'll blubber
all over DH.
